Position: Creative Reporter – Mwananchi (1 Post)

Purpose of the Role

MCL is seeking a Creative Reporter to join Mwananchi Newspaper, where they will craft compelling, innovative, and high-quality content. The role goes beyond traditional news reporting, requiring strong storytelling abilities, in-depth analysis, and the integration of multimedia elements to enhance reader engagement.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Academic Requirement: A Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Experience: 4-5 years of professional experience in journalism, media, or content creation.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth research to develop compelling feature stories, human interest pieces, and investigative reports.
• Utilize creative storytelling techniques to present news in an engaging manner.
• Incorporate multimedia elements, such as photos, videos, and infographics, to enrich content.
• Conduct interviews and background research to produce unique and impactful narratives.
• Identify emerging trends and newsworthy topics for fresh, relevant coverage.
• Uphold journalistic integrity by verifying sources and ensuring accuracy.
• Adapt content for digital platforms, ensuring optimization for online articles and social media.
• Collaborate with digital teams to maximize audience engagement and reach.
• Work closely with editors, photographers, and designers to create visually compelling stories.
• Participate in editorial meetings, contributing innovative content ideas.
• Ensure all published content aligns with Mwananchi’s editorial policies and quality benchmarks.
• Meet tight deadlines while maintaining high journalistic standards.
