As part of its mission, the organization is seeking a Communications Intern to support its engagement efforts, ensuring effective internal and external communication strategies.

Role Overview

The Communications Intern will work under the guidance of the Senior Communications Officer, playing a crucial role in the implementation of REPOA’s Communications Strategy. This position involves supporting branding initiatives, media relations, and content development while ensuring the organization maintains a positive public image.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a strong and consistent brand identity across all communication platforms.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating REPOA events and training sessions, ensuring structured branding and visibility strategies.
  • Support the creation of digital campaign materials, including eye-catching online posters and event promotions.
  • Assist in the design and layout of branding materials and REPOA’s key publications.
  • Support the production of essential institutional reports, such as Research Reports, Policy Briefs, and Annual Reports.
  • Collect and analyze media and online engagement metrics to evaluate REPOA’s communication efforts.
  • Capture and compile photographic and audiovisual content for documentation and promotional purposes.
  • Monitor press coverage and assist in organizing press conferences, media briefings, and other PR initiatives.
  • Handle procurement-related requests within the Communications Unit.
  • Update and manage REPOA’s website and social media platforms, ensuring timely and relevant content.
  • Maintain an active intranet to foster internal communication within the organization.
  • Provide Kiswahili translations for key communication materials when required.
  • Assist in drafting press releases and facilitating media engagement for REPOA events.
  • Develop communication posters and key messaging for external stakeholders.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Senior Communications Officer.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Social Sciences, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience and expertise in graphic design will be an added advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a similar role within a reputable organization.
