Government Distributes 12 Vehicles to School Quality Assurance Officers
Dar es Salaam, March 14, 2025 – The government, through the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, has handed over 12 vehicles to School Quality Assurance Officers as part of a broader initiative to strengthen education oversight and improve learning outcomes across Tanzania.
The vehicles, valued at TSh 1.7 billion, have been allocated to 11 district councils and the GPE-TSP project coordination offices, which played a key role in funding their procurement.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Dar es Salaam, Education, Science, and Technology Minister, Prof. Adolf Mkenda, emphasized that this initiative aims to enhance school quality assessments, ensuring evaluators can reach more institutions, conduct in-depth reviews, and provide expert guidance to teachers to improve student performance.
“These vehicles will significantly facilitate school inspections across different regions, allowing officers to monitor education standards more effectively,” said Prof. Mkenda.
The benefiting districts include Kibondo, Korogwe DC, Njombe TC, Tanganyika, Manyoni, Mbozi, Tunduma, Serengeti, Babati DC, Kahama Municipality, and Mafia.
Prof. Mkenda further highlighted that the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) initiative has played a crucial role in improving school quality assurance. The first phase of the project saw 38 vehicles purchased, and with this latest addition, the total fleet now stands at 50.
The initiative reflects the government's commitment to improving education standards by strengthening oversight and ensuring schools maintain high-quality teaching and learning environments.
