DAR ES SALAAM – Simba SC has tightened the title race in the Tanzania Premier League, narrowing the gap with league leaders Young Africans (Yanga) to just one point. The defending champions dominated Dodoma Jiji with a commanding 6-0 victory in a thrilling match at KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Friday evening.

Before the match, Yanga enjoyed a four-point lead over their arch-rivals. However, Simba’s emphatic win sees them climb to 57 points from 22 matches, trailing just behind Yanga, who maintain their position at the top with 58 points from an equal number of games.

Simba's Goal Scoring Onslaught

Simba’s offensive prowess was on full display, with Ellie Mpanzu opening the scoring in the 16th minute. The early lead set the tone for the match, and within just five minutes, Jean Ahoua doubled the advantage, finding the net in the 21st minute.

Ahoua struck again moments before halftime, securing his brace and giving Simba a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.

The second half saw Simba maintain their relentless attacking momentum. Barely two minutes after the restart, Ugandan forward Steven Mukwala extended the lead to 4-0, reinforcing Simba’s dominance on the pitch.

Kibu Dennis added his name to the scoresheet in the 58th minute, capitalizing on a precise assist from Mpanzu. Dennis wasn’t done yet—he sealed Simba’s 6-0 triumph in the 67th minute, sending fans into a frenzy with another well-placed strike.
