DODOMA: The Chief Government Chemist, Dr. Fedelice Mafumiko, has announced a significant rise in the number of samples analyzed by the Chief Chemist’s Laboratory, marking a 21% increase from 155,817 in the 2021/2022 financial year to 188,362 in 2023/2024.

He also pointed to a heightened public awareness of the vital role scientific investigations play in various sectors.

Furthermore, he highlighted the laboratory’s critical role in supporting criminal justice, detecting toxic substances in patients, and aiding in the identification of disaster victims. Additionally, he noted that forensic science has played a key role in verifying the safety of industrial products, food, and pharmaceuticals, thereby fostering a healthier and more secure society.
