Trump Praises ‘Productive Talks’ with Putin on Ukraine War
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has hailed what he describes as "productive and meaningful discussions" between the United States and Russia regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine.
In a post shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump emphasized the significance of the talks held the previous day, describing them as “positive and constructive.” However, he issued a stark warning about the dire situation faced by Ukrainian troops, stating that “thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are completely encircled” by Russian forces and are in a “very bad and weakened state.”
Trump further revealed that he had urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to “protect their lives,” cautioning that the potential consequences could amount to a “horrific massacre” on a scale “unseen since World War II.”
Zelensky Criticizes Russia Over Peace Negotiation Stalemate
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized Moscow for imposing conditions that, according to him, are prolonging the conflict rather than facilitating a ceasefire.
In his latest remarks, Zelensky underscored two urgent steps that he believes could bring Ukraine closer to a “just and lasting peace”—the return of prisoners of war and an unconditional 30-day ceasefire.
Taking to social media platform X, the Ukrainian leader accused Russia of “intentionally setting conditions that complicate and derail the peace process.” His comments came after a meeting with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State for the Vatican, where discussions focused on potential diplomatic efforts to achieve stability in the war-torn region.
