Tanzania to Purchase Electricity from Abroad for Northern Regions
President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania has announced that the country is in the final stages of securing agreements to import electricity specifically for the northern regions.
Speaking during the launch of the Same-Mwanga-Korogwe water project, President Samia explained that the government is taking concrete steps to ensure that electricity is available around the clock in the northern regions without interruptions.
"The government is taking the necessary steps to purchase special electricity for the northern regions, ensuring it is available 24 hours a day without outages. We are in the final stages of signing contracts to procure this electricity to serve the northern zone," President Samia stated in her speech.
The move is expected to address ongoing power supply challenges in the region and is part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and service delivery across Tanzania.
