Role Overview

As part of Nutrition International’s strategic initiatives in Tanzania, the Program Field Coordinator – Child Health and Nutrition will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating Vitamin A supplementation programs in the designated region. Reporting to the Senior Program Officer – Child Survival and Women’s Health and Nutrition, you will work closely with key stakeholders to implement health interventions aimed at combating Vitamin A deficiency and enhancing child health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee yearly and quarterly work plans and budgets to ensure the successful implementation of Vitamin A supplementation programs.

  • Support the development and execution of regional and council-level strategies in line with national Vitamin A supplementation guidelines.

  • Advocate for the integration of Vitamin A supplementation into routine healthcare services and broader health and nutrition programs.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation and coordination of program activities.

  • Ensure that all planned activities are executed on schedule and within the allocated budget.

  • Oversee the integration of Vitamin A supplementation into primary healthcare services, including immunization sessions and maternal and child health programs.

  • Analyze technical reports from implementing partners, addressing gaps to keep the program on track.

  • Organize and lead regular coordination meetings with key stakeholders to promote quality and cost-effective implementation.

  • Enhance community awareness of Vitamin A deficiency and its impact, promoting supplementation initiatives.

  • Collect and analyze program data, assessing performance, compliance, reach, and impact in accordance with key performance indicators.

  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports outlining program progress, challenges, and successes to internal stakeholders and donors.

Who We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree from a recognized institution in nutrition, nursing, public health, or health sciences.

  • Additional training in health commodities management and research methodologies is an asset.

  • 3–5 years of experience in nutrition or public health programs, preferably in Vitamin A or micronutrient supplementation.

  • Strong project management skills with experience in developing and executing public health initiatives.

  • Proficiency in data management and ability to analyze key health indicators.

  • Excellent report writing, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

  • Strong communication skills, including fluency in spoken and written English.
