Prayers Offered for President Samia’s Role in Dar es Salaam's Development
Dar es Salaam, March 23, 2025 — Muslim leaders, city councillors, and orphans gathered in Dar es Salaam to offer prayers for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, in appreciation of her administration’s investment of over TZS 317 billion in various development projects across the city.
The tribute took place during a special Iftar event hosted by the Office of the Mayor of Dar es Salaam at the historic Karimjee Grounds. The event brought together diverse participants in a rare moment of unity and reflection during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking at the event, the Honourable Mayor of Dar es Salaam, Omary Kumbilamoto, underscored the significance of the government’s contributions under President Samia’s leadership. He praised the allocation of funds, which have transformed infrastructure and enhanced public services in the region.
The Grand Mufti of Tanzania, Dr. Abubakary Zubeir, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the city leadership for organizing the gathering. He emphasized that such occasions are vital not only for fostering unity among Muslims but also for building bridges with non-Muslim communities. Dr. Zubeir urged Muslims to embrace Ramadan as a time for personal growth and acts of goodwill.
Also in attendance, Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo highlighted the remarkable progress achieved over the past four years of President Samia’s tenure. He noted that Dar es Salaam, in particular, has witnessed significant improvements, thanks to deliberate policy decisions and increased development funding.
