Former Tanzanian President Kikwete Holds Talks with Algerian Leader

ALGIERS, ALGERIA – Former Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has held high-level discussions with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, focusing on strengthening the long-standing diplomatic and fraternal ties between Tanzania and Algeria.
During the meeting, which took place in the Algerian capital, the two leaders reaffirmed the enduring solidarity that dates back to the era of Africa’s liberation struggles. Their talks centered on deepening bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as trade, investment, education, health, and defense.
Representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Kikwete conveyed Tanzania’s commitment to bolstering its partnership with Algeria. He also underscored the shared vision between the two nations for regional stability and economic growth.
President Tebboune lauded the historic friendship between Algeria and Tanzania, affirming his country’s readiness to enhance collaboration in mutually beneficial areas. He emphasized Algeria’s dedication to advancing joint initiatives that reflect the nations’ common interests and aspirations.
Prior to the official talks, Kikwete was welcomed at the Presidential Palace in Algiers by senior Algerian government officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Health Abdelhak Saihi, and Chief of Staff of the Presidency Boualem Boualem.
This high-level engagement marks a renewed commitment to fostering stronger diplomatic relations and expanding multi-sectoral cooperation between the two African nations.
