Aziz Ki, Nouma Omitted as Burkina Faso Names Squad for World Cup Qualifiers

March 10, 2025

Burkina Faso has officially announced its squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, with star midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki and left-back Valentino Nouma left out of the roster. Head coach Brama Traore unveiled the team on Monday, revealing the list of players set to compete in two crucial Group A fixtures.

The Stallions will first play Djibouti at home on March 16, 2025, before traveling for a pivotal away match against Guinea Bissau on March 23.

Key Omissions and Squad Overview

Aziz Ki, a 29-year-old playmaker for Tanzanian club Yanga SC, had been part of the squad during the earlier qualifying matches, featuring in three games and providing an assist. However, he has not been selected this time, along with Simba SC’s left-back Valentino Nouma.

Burkina Faso currently sits third in Group A with five points from four matches, trailing Guinea Bissau (6 points) and Egypt (10 points).
