Sudan Accuses South Sudan of UAE-backed Hospital Plot

Sudan Accuses South Sudan of Allowing UAE-funded Hospital Near Border

Sudan has accused South Sudan of permitting the construction of a hospital near its border, sparking concerns that it could be used as a base for smuggling weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The hospital, funded by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has become the center of controversy, with Sudan accusing the UAE of supporting the RSF.

This is not the first time the UAE has faced such accusations. Sudan has long been critical of the UAE, alleging that it has been sending military supplies to RSF forces through an airport in eastern Chad.

Despite these accusations, the UAE has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, asserting that the hospital is a humanitarian project aimed at providing medical aid to South Sudanese citizens. The UAE maintains that its involvement in the region is strictly for humanitarian purposes.

Nevertheless, there is mounting evidence suggesting that the UAE may have a vested interest in Sudan's ongoing conflict. Much of Sudan's gold is transported to the UAE, and the Gulf nation is known to be closely involved in Sudanese politics, further raising suspicions about its role in the conflict.
