Jamhuri Stadium Reopens After Major Renovations

Jamhuri Stadium Reopened Following Major Upgrades, TFF Confirms

DODOMA, April 1, 2025 – The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has officially reinstated Dodoma’s Jamhuri Stadium as a host venue for the NBC Premier League, following a comprehensive upgrade that aligns the facility with national football infrastructure standards.

The long-awaited reopening was announced on Sunday through TFF’s official social media channels, signaling the end of a temporary ban imposed due to the stadium’s previously inadequate conditions.

In a statement dated March 30, TFF Media and Communication Officer Clifford Ndimbo confirmed that the stadium had successfully undergone the necessary improvements to meet the Club Licensing Regulations, which govern the quality and safety of football infrastructure across the country.

The stadium has undergone thorough inspection and now meets the required standards following the necessary renovations,” read the TFF statement.

Jamhuri Stadium had been suspended after inspections revealed multiple infrastructural deficiencies, rendering it unsuitable for professional matches. However, extensive renovations have since addressed these shortcomings, allowing the venue to meet the regulatory benchmarks set by TFF.

The federation used the occasion to call upon football clubs and stadium operators to remain vigilant in maintaining high-quality playing surfaces.

“TFF continues to urge clubs to invest in improving the infrastructure of their home grounds and to collaborate with stadium owners to ensure matches are played on pitches that enhance competition and add value to the league,” the statement emphasized.

Jamhuri Stadium is the latest in a series of venues to face scrutiny under TFF and CAF guidelines. Earlier this year, Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam was temporarily suspended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) due to the poor condition of its pitch. Prompt action and renovations led to its reinstatement shortly thereafter.

Similarly, CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza was suspended on March 10 after failing to comply with licensing standards. The ban was lifted just ten days later on March 20, following expedited improvements that brought the venue back in line with league requirements.

The TFF continues to emphasize infrastructure development as a cornerstone of football growth in Tanzania, aiming to ensure all league matches are hosted at venues that support player safety, performance, and fan experience.
