Airtel Tanzania is currently inviting applications for the full-time position of Installation and Maintenance Head, a critical role within its Operations department. This opportunity, based in Dar es Salaam, offers experienced professionals the chance to lead one of the most vital segments of Airtel's infrastructure and customer delivery efforts.

Key Responsibilities

1. Rollouts, Installations, and Commissioning

  • Lead the development of ODU/ONU installation teams by structuring territory-based units aligned with sales clusters and overseen by supervisors.

  • Maintain an updated database of all installed ODUs/ONUs, capturing detailed customer information and installation locations.

  • Enforce defined service level agreements (SLAs): 3-hour installation, 4-hour relocation/recovery, and 2-hour repair response post-scheduling.

  • Create and manage route plans (PJP) for teams and conduct daily alignment meetings via Zoom or Teams to review performance and adherence to process metrics.

2. Logistics and Project Management

  • Establish and enforce streamlined departmental processes for installation and maintenance operations.

  • Oversee CWIP (Capital Work in Progress) to ensure warehouse equipment remains up to date and usable.

  • Implement structured procedures for the recovery and redeployment of ODU/ONU equipment.

3. Regulatory and Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure all installers are equipped with KYC kits and necessary tools for on-site installations.

  • Maintain complete and accessible regulatory documentation.

  • Track leased routers to customers and enforce recovery protocols for non-compliant users in line with company policies.

4. Partner and Inventory Management

  • Maintain adequate stock levels across warehouses and Airtel retail points; reconcile stock discrepancies within the distribution channels.

  • Work closely with the Supply Chain Management Team to validate procurement requests and raise purchase orders for installation equipment.

  • Support and manage third-party service providers and installer vendors.

  • Optimize rollout and recovery processes for ODU/ONUs and related equipment.

  • Coordinate warehousing and dispatch operations, ensuring timely delivery of installation materials, both local and imported.

5. Installer Team Oversight

  • Ensure fair and timely remuneration of team members to maintain motivation and operational efficiency.

  • Oversee the training and certification of installers to meet performance and quality benchmarks.

  • Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance within their respective territories, implementing improvements where necessary.

Candidate Qualifications

  • A university degree in Telecom Engineering, Networks, Electrical, or a related technical field.

  • Professional certification in Project Management techniques.

  • At least 7 years of experience in a technical capacity within Telecom, DTH, or ISP sectors.

  • In-depth understanding of the competitive landscape, technology platforms, and regulatory environment within the operating company (OPCO).

  • Familiarity with technologies from adjacent sectors such as Satellite TV and computer peripherals.

  • IT literacy and exposure to business education is considered an advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a target-driven environment.

  • Strong leadership, entrepreneurial mindset, analytical thinking, and commercial acumen.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent tools.
