TANROADS Announces 7 Job Vacancies in Key Infrastructure Projects

Overview

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is responsible for the maintenance and development of the trunk and regional road network across Tanzania Mainland. Additionally, TANROADS oversees axle load control operations through weighbridge scales.

The TANROADS Coast Regional Office, acting on behalf of the Chief Executive, is seeking skilled and experienced Tanzanian professionals to fill seven (7) vacancies for two significant infrastructure projects:

  • Upgrading of Utete – Nyamwage Road (33.7km) to Bitumen Standard
    Contract No: TRD/HQ/1036/2022/23

  • Construction of Mramre Bridge (81m) and its Approach Roads (3.0km) to Bitumen Standard

Successful candidates will be engaged on a specified employment contract to support the implementation of these road development projects.

Available Positions & Qualifications

1. Highway Engineer (1 Position)

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure the construction meets contract specifications.

  • Supervise construction processes to maintain high-quality standards.

  • Implement best engineering practices to achieve optimal project outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered Professional Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Highway Engineering.

  • A postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering is an added advantage.

  • At least 7 years of experience in road design and construction.

  • Must have contributed to at least two similar projects within the past seven years.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Sub-Saharan Africa is required.

  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.

2. Materials Engineer (1 Position)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and oversee materials investigations.

  • Ensure adherence to optimal pavement design and construction standards.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered Professional Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Pavement/Materials Engineering.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in pavement materials testing for road works.

  • Must have participated in at least two similar road projects.

  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.

3. Structure/Bridge Engineer (2 Positions)

Responsibilities:

  • Design, analyze, and assess bridges and drainage structures.

  • Ensure compliance with project and structural requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering, Bridge Engineering, or Structural Engineering.

  • At least 5 years of experience in Bridge Design and construction.

  • Experience in road projects of a similar nature.

  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.

4. CAD Technician (1 Position)

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and revise technical drawings and sketches for road and bridge projects.

  • Work closely with the Highway Engineer for design improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Tanzanian Citizen with a Diploma in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, or Land Surveying.

  • A Certificate in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) is mandatory.

  • At least 3 years of experience in CAD-related work.

5. Office Secretary (1 Position)

Responsibilities:

  • Manage office schedules and correspondence.

  • Facilitate site meetings and handle visitor inquiries.

  • Maintain administrative records and phone communication.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Tanzanian Citizen with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or an equivalent qualification.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Contract Duration: 1 year (specified employment contract).
