Tanzania: Newly Hired Health Workers Must Report in 14 Days

Newly Recruited Healthcare Workers in Tanzania Directed to Report to Work

March 16, 2025

Dar es Salaam – The Tanzanian government has issued a directive requiring newly recruited healthcare professionals under the Tanzania Maternal and Child Health Investment Program (TMCHIP) to report to their designated workplaces within 14 days.

According to the President’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), the 435 contract-based recruits must officially assume their duties starting from March 15, 2025.

This group consists of candidates who applied for various healthcare positions advertised in December last year under the TMCHIP initiative.

Reporting Guidelines and Documentation Requirements

In an official statement released on March 15, 2025, through the office of the Permanent Secretary of TAMISEMI, Adolf Ndunguru, it was emphasized that those failing to report within the stipulated period will have their positions reassigned to other eligible applicants on the waiting list.

Additionally, all recruits must present their original academic certificates for verification before receiving their employment confirmation letters. These documents include:

  • Certificates from secondary education (O-level and A-level)

  • University degrees or diplomas

  • National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) certifications

  • Registration certificates from professional regulatory bodies

Applicants who report without these original documents will not be accepted into the program, the statement clarified.

No Option for Reassignment

The government has also reiterated that there will be no possibility for recruits to change their assigned workplaces. All placements are considered final, and any request for a transfer will not be entertained.

For those whose names were not included in the final recruitment list, TAMISEMI encouraged them to reapply when new vacancies are announced in the future.

Furthermore, all Directors of Local Government Authorities have been instructed to receive the recruits, verify their credentials, and conduct orientation training before deploying them to their respective workstations.
