Dar es Salaam, March 29, 2025 – United Bank for Africa (UBA), recognized as one of Africa’s most resilient and innovative financial institutions, is seeking a highly experienced professional to lead its Corporate and Commercial Banking division in Tanzania. This full-time leadership position is based at the bank’s Head Office in Kijitonyama, Dar es Salaam.

Overview of the Role
The selected candidate will be entrusted with full strategic oversight and operational leadership of the bank’s Corporate and Commercial Banking business across Tanzania. This pivotal role aims to position UBA as a market leader by advancing innovative, value-driven banking solutions tailored to customer needs, and by strengthening market perception, growth, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership

Spearhead country-wide operations for the Corporate & Commercial Banking segment.

Develop and implement competitive strategies to grow UBA’s market share, profitability, and customer base.

Ensure dominance in customers’ value chains through comprehensive cash flow solutions.

Drive innovation and solution delivery aligned with market needs.
-
Establish meaningful relationships with governmental and non-governmental entities to foster business growth.
2. Product Management
-
Oversee the development and enhancement of Corporate & Commercial Banking products based on market insights and customer behavior.

Ensure pricing strategies and product messaging are aligned with client expectations and competitive dynamics.

Manage existing product propositions for maximum client impact.
3. Trade & Transaction Banking
-
Lead in the execution of Transaction Banking solutions including value chain financing, payments, collections, corporate internet banking, cards, POS acquisition, and eCommerce services.

Direct international and regional trade solutions such as Letters of Credit (LCs), Export Processing, and Guarantees.

Provide guidance on pricing models and tailor offerings to meet country-specific demands.

Train and equip branch and country teams to maximize product adoption and customer satisfaction.
4. Talent & Workforce Development

Build a high-performance team with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Cultivate a future-ready, sales-competent workforce using effective tools and training.

Maintain a positive and engaging environment to foster team morale and productivity.
Candidate Profile
Education:
-
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

A Master's degree or recognized professional qualification is highly desirable.
Experience:
-
At least 10 years of experience in banking, with a minimum of 7 years dedicated to Corporate and Commercial Banking.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Achieving UBA’s Corporate & Commercial Banking PBT targets.

Expanding market share across deposits, lending, and transaction volumes.
