Taifa Stars Head to Morocco for Crucial World Cup Qualifier

March 21, 2025

The Tanzania national football team, Taifa Stars, has departed for Morocco today ahead of a vital Group E clash in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The match against hosts Morocco is scheduled for March 26 at the Stade d’Honneur, located in the municipality of Oujda.

Before the team’s departure via Kilimanjaro International Airport, the Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma, officially handed over the national flag to the players in a symbolic gesture of support and encouragement.

Morocco currently leads Group E with 9 points from three matches. Niger follows with 6 points, while Tanzania shares the same tally but sits in third place based on goal difference. Zambia occupies fourth position with 3 points from four matches, and Congo sits at the bottom of the group without a single point.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup finals are scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
