Role Summary

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving growth across loan and advance portfolios, deposit mobilization, and the promotion of alternative banking products. The position involves direct management of sales operations and strategic support for Sales Officers across designated branches.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Acquisition & Customer Engagement

  • Recruit and onboard new customers while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients through regular visits.

  • Ensure customer acquisition channels operate seamlessly and deliver an excellent client experience.

  • Identify promising sectors for business growth within the local environment.

  • Conduct KYC processes and risk evaluations for potential customers and guide them through account opening.

  • Collaborate with the Business Development Partner to develop locally relevant financial products.

  • Provide regular performance feedback on products and services to the Head of Customer Network.

  • Coordinate with Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) and Business Banking (BB) to explore cross-sector opportunities under the One Bank Concept.

  • Address client inquiries and offer strategic financial guidance.

2. Deposit Growth

  • Actively assess local market dynamics to develop and execute deposit mobilization strategies.

  • Lead deposit campaign initiatives across branches.

  • Maintain proactive relationships with all bank clients to meet deposit targets.

  • Follow the branch activity calendar to stay aligned with scheduled initiatives.

3. Cross-Selling Products

  • Promote the full suite of NBC services, including:

    • Mobile and Internet Banking

    • Agent Banking

    • Insurance

    • Deposit and Loan Products

    • Foreign Exchange and Transfers

  • Gather competitive intelligence to benchmark product offerings and service quality.

4. Relationship Management

  • Lead customer engagement activities and represent the bank in client interactions.

  • Identify prospective clients and conduct detailed meetings to onboard them.

  • Foster long-term client relationships through active listening, problem-solving, and collaborative decision-making.

  • Participate in client networking events and manage holistic customer interactions to strengthen loyalty.

  • Ensure ongoing engagement with acquired clients to maintain active accounts and minimize attrition.

5. Reporting, Monitoring & Loan Oversight

  • Maintain an updated database of high-net-worth individuals within the branch network.

  • Track and report branch performance using defined KPIs.

  • Ensure prompt loan processing and support recovery activities.

  • Monitor the branch’s loan book for Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and Non-Performing Loans (NPL).

  • Collaborate with the Stressed Asset Management Unit to drive recovery efforts.

6. Coaching & Team Development

  • Provide continuous coaching and mentoring to the branch Sales Team.

  • Regularly review and report team performance against agreed-upon KPIs.

7. Additional Duties

  • Contribute to budgeting for all sales-related activities within the branch.

  • Prepare detailed reports and business proposals for management review.

  • Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Branch Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related fields.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a banking environment.

  • Knowledge Base: In-depth understanding of banking practices, products, and regulatory frameworks.
