Moscow Awaits U.S. Response on Ukraine Peace Proposal
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio urges Russia to accept a ceasefire as negotiations on Ukraine’s conflict take center stage. Talks scheduled for today.

U.S. and Russia to Hold Talks Today on Ceasefire in Ukraine
The United States and Russia are set to engage in critical discussions today regarding a potential ceasefire in Ukraine. The talks follow a recent meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian officials, which explored a 30-day proposal aimed at de-escalating the ongoing conflict.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow is awaiting an official and detailed response from the United States regarding the discussions that took place between Washington and Kyiv.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope for a positive response from Russia, emphasizing that “there is no military solution to this conflict. The only path to peace is through dialogue.”
Rubio further stressed that the responsibility now lies with Moscow to decide whether to accept an initial ceasefire agreement. Such a move, he noted, would pave the way for negotiations and broader efforts to end hostilities in Ukraine.
Speaking to journalists after meeting with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia, Rubio confirmed that the U.S. would hold direct talks with Russia on Wednesday. "We will present our position directly to them," he said, adding, "The decision is now in their hands."
