Kibadeni Predicts Mukwala Could Break His Hat-Trick Record in Dar Derby
DAR ES SALAAM, March 4, 2025 – Simba’s star striker Steven Mukwala is being hailed as a potential successor to one of Tanzanian football’s most iconic records. Abdallah "King" Kibadeni, the legendary Simba forward, has expressed confidence that Mukwala could eclipse his long-standing achievement by scoring a hat-trick in the upcoming Dar es Salaam Derby.
Known as the Kariakoo Derby in Tanzania, the fierce rivalry between Simba and Young Africans (Yanga) is set to captivate fans nationwide. The eagerly awaited match is scheduled for March 8, 2025, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
After Mukwala's stunning hat-trick performance in Simba's recent 4-1 victory over Coastal Union, Kibadeni believes the Ugandan forward has the talent and potential to match or even surpass his own remarkable feat during the high-stakes clash against Yanga.
"I've watched him closely, and his goal-scoring ability is remarkable. If he keeps up this level of form, he could very well equal or break my record," said Kibadeni. "However, the Kariakoo Derby is always unpredictable, and both teams are evenly matched in terms of attack and defense. It’s a game where anything can happen."
Despite his optimism, Kibadeni cautioned that the intense nature of the derby means no team is guaranteed a victory. Both Simba and Yanga boast solid squads, and the outcome remains uncertain.
With Mukwala's recent form sparking excitement, the anticipation for the Kariakoo Derby is building, as fans from both camps eagerly await a memorable showdown.
