A New Era for Tanzanian Entrepreneurs as Accelerate Business Group Hosts Women's Leadership Summit

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — March 4, 2025 — A wave of empowerment and transformation is on the horizon for women in business as the Accelerate Business Group prepares to host its much-anticipated 3rd Annual Accelerate Women’s Executive Summit in Dar es Salaam on March 15, 2025.

The summit, which is set to feature an array of powerful discussions and networking opportunities, will be held under the compelling theme, "Unstoppable Woman." More than just a gathering, this event aims to foster a movement that redefines women’s role in leadership and entrepreneurship, while addressing the barriers they face in the business world.

This year’s summit will bring together a diverse group of executives, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders from across Africa and beyond. The focus will be on promoting women’s leadership, driving economic inclusion, and finding innovative solutions to the unique challenges women encounter in leadership and business.

Speaking at a press conference in Dar es Salaam, Bernice Fernandes, the CEO of Accelerate Business Group, shared her insights on the theme of this year’s summit. "In our first year, we broke barriers. Last year, we ignited a fire. Now, we’re focusing on women who continue to thrive and move forward despite challenges. An Unstoppable Woman overcomes obstacles and collaborates with men through initiatives like 'He for She'," Fernandes emphasized.

A key highlight of the summit will be the Accelerate Deal Room, an exciting platform where 10 women entrepreneurs will present their innovative business ideas to potential investors, with the chance to win grants to fuel their ventures. Fernandes describes the Deal Room as a game-changer, offering women valuable access to financial resources, as well as the knowledge and confidence needed to scale their businesses effectively.

As part of the event, several prominent figures will deliver keynote addresses, including Her Excellency Christine Grau, the European Union Ambassador to Tanzania, the UN Women Country Director, and Chinwe Esimai, Citibank USA Executive and winner of the America's Most Powerful Banker Award. Their speeches will focus on advancing women in leadership, fostering innovation, and improving business growth strategies.

Moreover, a CEO panel discussion will feature top executives from Bank of Africa Tanzania, Trademark Africa, and other leading organizations. These business leaders will offer valuable insights into navigating leadership, promoting innovation, and driving sustainable business practices.

Nandi Mwiyombella, Head of Marketing and Communications at Bank of Africa Tanzania, highlighted the bank’s dedication to supporting women entrepreneurs. “We are thrilled to be part of this summit, and we are committed to offering guidance and resources to women who are looking to expand their businesses,” she said.

In addition to the keynote speeches and panel discussions, the summit will host a range of activities, including mentorship sessions and a leadership workshop led by Chinwe Esimai. There will also be a special session on women and money, which will delve into financial literacy, investment opportunities, and access to finance for women-led businesses.

The summit will not only highlight seasoned women leaders but will also feature rising stars such as Charlene Ruto from Kenya, as well as entertainment from the celebrated Kenyan comedian Obayi Patrick.

As the call for greater representation in leadership roles continues to resonate across the continent, the Accelerate Women’s Executive Summit is poised to leave a lasting impact. It will provide critical networking opportunities, access to resources, and serve as a platform for shaping the next generation of unstoppable women leaders.
