During the conference, Minister Silaa took part in several discussions, including the integration of Direct to Device (D2D) technology within communication systems and strategies to address frequency challenges. He also contributed to discussions on the enhancement of communication fund management systems across African nations. Notably, Tanzania's Universal Communication Service Access Fund (UCSAF) was highlighted as one of the best examples of transparency and success. Other topics included the availability of affordable frequency pricing to foster equal access to communication services.
Minister Silaa also participated in a National Dialogue session titled Tanzania Towards a Fully Digitalized Economy, held alongside the MWC, in collaboration with the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA), the primary organizers of MWC 2025.
In this session, GSMA presented a report assessing the challenges faced by the communication sectors in four African countries: Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Zambia, and South Africa.
Furthermore, Minister Silaa used the occasion to announce Tanzania’s Digital Economy Strategy, launched on July 29, 2024, by President Samia Suluhu Hassan. He urged GSMA to invite its members to participate in the implementation of the strategy.
