Zanzibar President Calls for Unity and Peace Amidst Growing Challenges

ZANZIBAR – President Hussein Mwinyi has urged the citizens of Zanzibar to place a higher emphasis on maintaining peace, stability, and national unity, emphasizing that such efforts are fundamental for both societal progress and improved living standards. His remarks came during a special prayer session held at Chaani Tangini, located in the Unguja North Region, where community members gathered to offer prayers for the nation and its leaders.
During the event, Dr. Mwinyi emphasized the critical role that peace plays in fostering national development, stating: “Those who desire progress and justice must put the peace of our nation first. Let us unite in our collective responsibility to safeguard peace and stability.”
In his address, President Mwinyi commended the Zanzibar Mufti’s Office for its consistent commitment to resolving conflicts within religious institutions, mosques, and madrassas, acknowledging their efforts in preserving the harmony and unity of the community.
The President further called on politicians, journalists, and religious figures to use their influential platforms to promote peace, stability, and national unity, underscoring that the strength of a nation lies in the unity of its people. He added: “Nothing should divide us. Let us continue to pray for the peace and stability of our beloved nation.”
Dr. Mwinyi also expressed his gratitude to the event’s organizers, praising the gathering as a meaningful and impactful initiative that embodies the collective spirit of the community.
