Tabora United attacking midfielder Offen Chikola has expressed renewed determination to elevate his performance in the remaining fixtures of the Tanzania Premier League season, following a much-needed break during the international FIFA calendar.
Chikola, who has recorded seven goals and two assists so far this season, stated that the short hiatus helped him recover from physical fatigue caused by a demanding series of back-to-back matches. Now revitalized, he is eager to return to the pitch with increased energy and focus.
"I'm coming back with fresh strength and a clear goal — I want to score at least 10 goals before the season ends," said Chikola. "I know the final stretch of the season is tough. Every team will be fighting hard to achieve its objectives, but I’m ready for the challenge."
A devoted admirer of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, Chikola cited the Egyptian’s explosive pace, dribbling, finishing, and physical fitness as qualities he hopes to emulate.
Currently, Tabora United sit fifth in the Premier League standings with 37 points from 23 matches — a tally that includes 10 wins, seven draws, and six defeats. Chikola hopes the team can push even higher.
“My ambition, beyond scoring, is to help Tabora United finish the season among the top three,” he added.
Of the 23 league matches Tabora United have played this season, Chikola has featured in 22. In five of those, he was substituted before the final whistle: against Mashujaa (79th minute), Simba (82nd), Prisons (75th), JKT Tanzania (65th), and Fountain Gate (78th).
“Despite everything, I’m grateful for the season I’ve had. The coaches have shown faith in me, and I’ve felt valued as a core part of the first team,” said Chikola.
