Manchester United to Back Amorim in Summer Transfer Window
Manchester United CEO Confirms Summer Transfer Plans for Ruben Amorim
MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – Manchester United's Chief Executive Officer, Omar Berrada, has confirmed that head coach Ruben Amorim is actively involved in discussions with the club’s hierarchy regarding the upcoming summer transfer window. This assurance dispels concerns that financial constraints might limit the manager’s ability to strengthen his squad.
United, currently struggling for consistency in the Premier League under Amorim’s tenure, face the prospect of finishing outside the European qualification spots. Since taking over in November last year, the Portuguese tactician has encountered difficulties in turning around the club’s fortunes, raising questions about his ability to reshape the team.
Earlier concerns suggested that Amorim might be forced to work with the squad he inherited from Erik ten Hag, with minimal reinforcements beyond the January acquisitions of Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven. However, Berrada has now clarified that the club remains committed to investing in new signings, with Director of Football Jason Wilcox working closely with Amorim to identify key transfer targets.
Speaking ahead of United’s Europa League Round of 16 second-leg clash against Real Sociedad, Berrada stated:
"We have been in continuous discussions with Ruben (Amorim). He has a strong working relationship with Jason Wilcox, and both share a clear vision of how they want the team to play."
Despite financial concerns linked to the club’s ambitious plans for a new 100,000-capacity stadium, United’s leadership has assured that Amorim will be provided with the necessary financial backing in the transfer market—irrespective of whether the team secures European football next season.
This latest development signals a strong endorsement of Amorim’s project, with Manchester United set to reinforce their squad in a bid to return to the top tier of English and European football.
