Kigoma March 23, 2025
Kajuna FC from Kigoma Region has secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Regional Champions League after collecting a total of 13 points, confirming their advancement from the Kigoma Zone.
This achievement guarantees their position as one of the top two teams to progress from the zone, with only one match remaining in the group stage. Their closest rivals, Igunga FC from Tabora, currently sit at 10 points with two games in hand and remain the only team with a mathematical chance of matching Kajuna’s tally.
In their fifth group-stage fixture, Kajuna FC were held to a goalless draw by Dew Drop FC from Sumbawanga at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma. The result ended Kajuna's impressive four-game winning streak but was still sufficient to keep them at the top of the group standings.
Kajuna now leads the Kigoma Zone with 13 points from five matches, while Igunga FC follows closely in second place with 10 points and two games yet to play. Home Boys FC from Katavi sit third with seven points after five matches. Should they win their final match, they could reach 10 points—still trailing Kajuna’s current tally.
Kyela FC from Mbeya occupies fourth position with six points from four games, level with The Green FC from Songwe, who have also accumulated six points. Dew Drop FC has earned just one point so far, while Magic Pressure FC from Singida remains at the bottom of the table, yet to register a point after four matches.
