CRDB Bank Plc Seeks Business Analyst SME to Strengthen Credit Operations

CRDB Bank Plc is inviting applications for the role of Business Analyst SME, a full-time position based at its Head Office in Dar es Salaam. The bank is looking to fill one vacancy as it continues to bolster its capacity in credit underwriting and enhance lending efficiency, particularly within the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector.

Key Purpose of the Role

The selected candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that credit solutions are implemented efficiently and cost-effectively. This involves evaluating customer business needs and aligning them with appropriate credit structures, all while maintaining strict adherence to CRDB Bank’s credit policies.

The Business Analyst will also be instrumental in optimizing the credit underwriting process, with a focus on increasing loan approval rates, improving the quality of credit appraisals, and maintaining a high-performing loan portfolio.

Core Responsibilities

Credit Underwriting Functions:

  • Evaluate and process credit applications from business units and branches, ensuring completeness and compliance with policy requirements.

  • Draft high-quality credit appraisal reports based on loan limits and approved formats.

  • Advise on structuring credit facilities aligned with business nature and cash flow cycles.

  • Collaborate with credit departments to resolve issues without compromising policy adherence.

  • Conduct on-site visits to customer businesses or project locations, including collateral inspections.

Control & Reporting Functions:

  • Maintain a comprehensive database and generate periodic reports for management tracking on application statuses and decision trends.

Capacity Building Functions:

  • Support capacity building efforts for BCC (Business Credit Committee) members, in coordination with credit and business teams, to ensure alignment with strategic business objectives.

Procedure Review Functions:

  • Contribute to periodic reviews of credit policy and manuals to reflect changes in regulatory and business environments, ensuring robust credit risk management.

  • Participate in the development of SME-specific credit products tailored to emerging customer needs.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • A bachelor’s degree in fields such as Business Administration, Management, Information Technology, Banking and Finance, Accountancy, or Financial Management is required.

  • A master’s degree or professional certifications will be considered an added advantage.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in business lending within a banking environment.

  • Strong knowledge of credit products and services tailored for SMEs.

  • Broad understanding of sectoral performance, regulatory conditions, and competitive landscapes.

  • Proficiency in financial and ratio analysis, critical thinking, and decision-making.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and listening skills.

  • Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.

  • Ability to perform under pressure in complex, multidisciplinary settings.
