Yanga SC’s Ibrahim Hamad, popularly known as ‘Bacca’, has distinguished himself as the leading goal-scoring defender in the ongoing Tanzania Mainland Premier League season. With four goals to his name, Bacca currently holds the top spot among defenders in the scoring charts.

Trailing him closely are Hernest Malonga of Singida Big Stars, Shomari Kapombe of Simba SC, Erasto Nyoni from Namungo FC, and Pascal Msindo — each having netted three goals so far this season.

According to league statistics, the record for most goals scored by a defender in the previous season was also four, set by Derrick Mukombozi of Namungo FC. With several matches still left to play this season, Bacca has already equalled that tally and stands a strong chance of surpassing it, potentially setting a new benchmark for defenders in the league.
