Coastal Union’s Lawi Reflects on Challenging Season, Eyes Better Future

Thursday, March 6, 2025
Coastal Union sits in 9th position in the standings after 22 matches, with 5 wins, 9 draws, and 8 losses. The team has conceded 23 goals, accumulating 24 points.

Coastal Union Defender Lameck Lawi has expressed confidence despite the challenges this season. He believes both he and the team are committed to improving their performance for next season.

Currently, Coastal Union is in 9th place on the league table after 22 matches. With 5 wins, 9 draws, and 8 losses, the team has conceded 23 goals, collecting a total of 24 points. The team’s defense has been a particular issue, ranking 10th in the league for goals conceded.

Speaking to Mwanaspoti, Lawi acknowledged that this season has not gone as planned but remains optimistic. He emphasized that it’s been a challenging year for the entire team but reiterated their resolve to improve and ensure a better performance next season.

“This has truly been a tough season for us. We haven’t had a great run since the league started, but we refuse to be among the players who let Coastal Union down. We continue to fight to make sure we can compete again next season,” Lawi said.

He added, “I can’t perform at my best alone on the field. The mistakes happening are shared among all of us, and we’ve been discussing them after every dropped point, focusing on how to create better opportunities for the next matches. That’s been key to our recent improved results.”

Lawi further stressed that no player intentionally makes mistakes; rather, it’s part of the game. He noted that the team’s focus is on improvement, and while the league has been tough this season, they are determined to work together to regain competitiveness.

“This isn’t the time to blame one another. We’re playing as a team, and everyone is responsible for doing their job correctly. After the game, we analyze and discuss what needs to be done to avoid mistakes and stay focused. The main goal is to ensure Coastal Union finishes the season strong and in a better position,” he concluded.
