Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango has extended a generous gesture by providing Iftar meals to over 300 widows and orphans in Kigoma Ujiji Municipality, Kigoma Region.

The meals were distributed on his behalf by the Kigoma Regional Sheikh, Hassan Kiburwa, who stated that Dr. Mpango's contribution aligns with the religious obligation of supporting those in need, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to Sheikh Kiburwa, this is not the first time the Vice President has reached out to support vulnerable communities in the region. He emphasized that Dr. Mpango’s consistent assistance, particularly to Muslim faithful, stems from his compassion and commitment to humanitarian values, transcending religious or ideological boundaries.

"This is something the Vice President does regularly out of his love and concern for the less fortunate, regardless of their faith," said Sheikh Kiburwa.

Alongside the Iftar meals, the beneficiaries also received essential food items including rice, sugar, wheat flour, and beans. The initiative further includes a planned Iftar event on Sunday evening for more than 300 orphans housed at the Manara Centre in Ujiji, Kigoma.

Among the recipients was Moza Mohamed, a widow, who expressed deep gratitude for the support, highlighting how the Vice President’s gesture demonstrates genuine care for low-income families, regardless of their religious affiliation.

"This kind of help shows how much the Vice President values the well-being of people living under tough conditions, especially during this holy period," said Moza Mohamed.

The initiative has been widely praised for its inclusiveness and timely assistance during Ramadan, reinforcing the importance of solidarity and compassion within Tanzanian society.
