"Tanzania's Karia Seeks Key CAF Position with $130 Million Potential
"Wallace Karia aims for CAF executive role with financial reward of $130 million."

Karia Eyes CAF Executive Committee Seat with Significant Financial Gains
As the March 12, 2025, election for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) presidency approaches in Morocco, Wallace Karia, President of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA), is positioning himself to secure a spot on the CAF executive committee.
While there is little competition for the CAF presidency, as Patrice Motsepe is the sole candidate running for re-election after taking office in 2020, the real contest is for the six available spots on the CAF executive committee. A total of nine candidates are vying for these positions, with Karia among them.
Should Karia win a seat, he stands to earn a substantial annual income. Each member of the CAF executive committee now receives an increased allowance of $50,000 annually, following a decision made by CAF in September 2024 to boost member payments by $10,000. However, Karia, as CECAFA President, would earn an additional $25,000 annually—equating to approximately TZS 52 million. This means Karia would be poised to take home $75,000 (TZS 130 million) per year, a significant financial gain in his role.
Karia is competing with candidates from across Africa, including Mustapha Raji of Liberia, Elvis Chetty of Seychelles, Sadi Walid of Algeria, Sobha Mohamad of Mauritius, Kurt Okraku of Ghana, Feizal Sidat of Mozambique, Alfred Randriamanampisoa of Madagascar, and Bestine Kazadi of DR Congo.
The elections for these key CAF positions will be held alongside the presidential election in Morocco, and the results will shape the leadership and direction of African football for the next several years.
