Tanzanian Government Applauds CRDB for Quran Contest Sponsorship

CRDB Bank Receives Government Praise for Supporting Quran Recitation Competition

The Tanzanian government has lauded CRDB Bank for its role in sponsoring the 33rd International Quran Recitation Competition, held recently in Dar es Salaam. The Prime Minister, Mr. Kassim Majaliwa, who was representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan during her official visit to Tanga Region, extended his praise to the bank at the closing of the event.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Majaliwa emphasized the significance of the competition, highlighting its ability to inspire the recitation of the Holy Quran while promoting positive values such as unity, love, and solidarity. He noted that such initiatives also serve to elevate Tanzania's international profile and strengthen diplomatic and business relations, particularly in the tourism sector. “Through these competitions, we reinforce our diplomacy and business engagements,” Majaliwa said, while commending CRDB Bank for its sponsorship through its Al Barakah window. President Samia briefly visited the event, offering her blessings to the participants.

The competition featured two main categories: one for children under 13 and another for youth above 13. Contestants from around the world gathered to showcase their Quranic recitation skills, reinforcing the importance of preserving the Quran and encouraging a culture of reading within the Muslim community.

Abdulmajid Nsekela, Group Managing Director and CEO of CRDB Bank, spoke to the bank’s commitment to meeting the needs of its diverse customer base. He explained that CRDB introduced the Al Barakah window, a service offering financial products rooted in Islamic principles, designed to support Muslims engaged in business, investment, and religious practices like Hajj and Umrah. Nsekela stressed that religion plays a pivotal role in building a morally sound society, fostering peace, and ensuring national stability, which in turn supports the private sector in executing investment projects.

The grand finale of the competition saw six winners announced. In the adult category, Mohamed Amin Hassan from the United States claimed first place, followed by Islaam Ali Shalouf from Libya and Malak Abdulaziz AlRabee from Saudi Arabia. In the children’s category, 13-year-old Zayd El Bakkali from Morocco took the top spot, with Yusuf Yasin, aged 11, from Uganda securing second place, and 8-year-old Mohamed Yacine from Algeria finishing third.
