DAR ES SALAAM, March 20, 2025 – Tanzania's national cricket team is intensifying preparations for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup qualifying tournament, scheduled to take place in Nigeria on March 26. With a highly competitive lineup featuring Namibia, Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, and Sierra Leone, only one team will secure a coveted spot at the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, to be co-hosted by Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Head Coach Imran Nackerdien has expressed confidence in the squad’s progress, emphasizing their determination to compete at the highest level.
“This is a pivotal tournament for us. We are fully aware of the challenges ahead, but our goal is clear—we are preparing to go all out for victory,” said Nackerdien in an interview with Daily News Digital.
Tanzanian team captain Laksh Bakrania reinforced this commitment, stating that the players are prepared to give their absolute best to bring pride to the nation.
“We respect every opponent, but we do not fear anyone. We are ready to fight with everything we have to win each match and secure our place in the World Cup,” Bakrania declared.
Having already faced their rivals in previous rounds, Tanzania’s team has gained valuable insights into their competitors' strengths and weaknesses. This familiarity, combined with rigorous training and strategic preparation, will be key as they aim to make history by securing a berth on cricket’s biggest stage.
The Tanzanian squad remains steadfast in their mission to achieve World Cup qualification, fueled by passion, discipline, and a relentless drive for success.
