President Samia Honored with Prestigious African Water Champion Award

Dar es Salaam, March 22, 2025 – President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has been awarded the Pan-African Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Champion Award (The PANAFRICAN Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Champion Award) by UK-based organization WaterAid.

The accolade was presented during the high-profile closing ceremony of Water Week and the official launch of the revised National Water Policy 2002, Edition 2025, held today in Dar es Salaam.

This distinguished recognition celebrates President Samia’s exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to improving water access, sanitation, and hygiene across Tanzania and the African continent. The award underscores her administration’s strategic focus on enhancing water infrastructure and ensuring clean water services for all.

The ceremony also marked a pivotal moment with the unveiling of the updated National Water Policy, reflecting progressive reforms and policy direction aimed at securing sustainable water management and access for present and future generations.

The event brought together key stakeholders, government officials, development partners, and water sector experts, all commending the President's efforts in championing sustainable development through clean water and sanitation initiatives.
