Police in Mwanza Detain Woman for Forging Documents and Selling Land

In Mwanza, police have arrested a woman, Flora Kasambala, whose real name is Bigister Mbowe, aged 42, on charges of document forgery and illegally selling plots of land. The land, located at plots 19 and 20 in Kitalu K, Nyakalekwa Street, Luchelele Ward, Nyamagana District, was not owned by her.

Mwanza Regional Police Commander (RPC), DCP Willbroad Mutafungwa, confirmed that the suspect sold the 480-square-meter plot to Khamis Abdallah, a journalist, on September 6, 2024.

According to DCP Mutafungwa, an initial investigation has revealed that Bigister Mbowe has a history of deceiving and defrauding individuals by selling land that she does not own. She has also been forging property ownership documents. Police believe she collaborated with a group of corrupt local government officials who used their positions to convince buyers that the land in question was legitimately owned by Mbowe.

The additional suspects involved in the case include Yohana Petro Kirangi, 45, Chairman of the Nyakalekwa Street Government; Mohamed Amir Omari, 52, Member of the Nyakalekwa Street Government; Salome Peter William, 26, a resident of Nyasaka Street; Benedicto Michael Mathias, 50, a land broker from Buhongwa.
