Women from NM-AIST Shine in Women's Fun Run to Mark International Women's Day

 Arusha March 3, 2025

Women from the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) joined other women in Arusha for the much-anticipated Women’s Fun Run 2025 as part of the festivities leading up to International Women's Day.

The event featured two race categories: a 10-kilometer run and a 5-kilometer race, both set in preparation for the national celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, 2025, in Arusha.

Beyond the races, the event showcased a variety of traditional games, including mdako, bao, sack races, rope pulling, and rede (a local game). NM-AIST excelled in these games, securing the second-place position, while the Fire Brigade team clinched first place and TEMDO took third.

The participants expressed their appreciation for the inclusion of traditional games, noting that activities such as mdako, which helps smooth facial wrinkles, contribute positively to health and well-being, enhancing both physical vitality and facial radiance.
