Deputy Minister Highlights Legal Aid Campaign in Arusha

Jumanne Sagini Advises Citizens to Provide Accurate Information for Legal Aid Assistance

March 1, 2025

The Deputy Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Jumanne Sagini, has urged citizens facing legal challenges to provide accurate information to aid legal service providers in resolving issues through the Mama Samia Legal Aid campaign. The campaign is focused on addressing long-standing legal difficulties and finding solutions.

Sagini offered this advice on March 1, 2025, in Arusha while visiting exhibition booths during the celebrations for International Women's Day, set to be observed nationally on March 8, 2025. The event, which is preceded by various exhibitions from institutions and organizations, highlights ongoing issues of legal concern in the country.

Key challenges such as land disputes, inheritance issues, and marriage conflicts are among the primary concerns being addressed through the campaign, which is taking place across the nation. Citizens are being encouraged to write wills to prevent misunderstandings that may arise within families.

Sagini emphasized that the campaign is designed to assist citizens facing various legal difficulties. He urged those involved in disputes to provide accurate details to legal experts, which would help resolve their issues effectively.

"Here, various experts will lead this campaign to assist in resolving the different issues affecting citizens. I urge citizens to make it a habit to write wills, as this will help eliminate confusion when it comes to the distribution of assets. Furthermore, cases involving claims from various departments, such as labor disputes, should be resolved promptly to avoid misunderstandings for those seeking justice," Sagini stated.

Meanwhile, the Arusha Regional Commissioner, Paul Makonda, assured that no citizen would be left without access to legal assistance through the campaign. He urged legal service providers to listen attentively to citizens' concerns in order to resolve their issues.

Additionally, Philemon Mkwai, the Coordinator of the Registration, Insolvency, and Trusteeship Agency (RITA) in Arusha, highlighted that through their eRITA digital services, RITA provides various certificates for birth, death, marriage, divorce, and surety.

He noted that the birth registration service is now available online via RITA’s website, www.rita.go.tz, which helps reduce crowds and long queues at the office, as citizens can now simply collect their certificates.
