Yanga Extends Lead with Dominant 3-0 Victory Over Pamba
Mwanza, February 28, 2025
Defending champions Young Africans (Yanga) have extended their lead at the top of the league table with a commanding 3-0 victory over Pamba Jiji at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza. The win increases their gap to seven points over second-place Simba, who trail with 51 points from 20 matches.
Yanga, now with 58 points from 22 games, were already in a strong position before today’s clash, leading Simba by four points. Despite a tightly contested first half, it was Shadrack Boka who broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, scoring from a free kick to give Yanga a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
The second half began without any significant changes, with both teams playing a slow-paced game. However, the introduction of Stephane Azizi Ki in place of Khalid Aucho in the 65th minute proved to be a game-changer.
Within a span of just three minutes, Aziz Ki netted twice, effectively sealing the victory for Yanga. He scored their second goal in the 76th minute, and shortly after, in the 78th minute, he added a third to complete his brace and ensure a dominant 3-0 win.
This victory solidifies Yanga's position at the top of the league as they look to defend their title.
