Three Dead in CCM Caravan Accident in Mbeya
Mbeya, February 25, 2025 – Three individuals, including an independent journalist, a CRN bus driver, and a member of the Rungwe District CCM Executive Committee, tragically lost their lives in an accident involving a CRN bus and a government vehicle in Mbeya.
The incident took place today, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in the Shamwengo area of Mbeya District. It is reported that the CRN bus attempted to overtake the government vehicle without caution, resulting in the deadly collision that left three dead and seven others injured.
Mbeya Acting Police Commander, Wilbert Siwa, confirmed the incident, noting that two of the injured are in critical condition while the others have been discharged. "There are three fatalities, including the independent journalist, and two others who were part of the crash. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available," said Commander Siwa.
Christopher Uhagile, the CCM Secretary for Political Affairs and Publicity in the region, remarked that the accident occurred while they were escorting Fadhil Rajabu, the National Chairperson of the CCM’s Youth Wing, on his tour of the region. Uhagile also revealed that the party had lost Daniel Mselewa, a member of the CCM District Executive Committee in Rungwe.
"CCM National has already directed the necessary arrangements for honoring our departed colleagues, who were performing party duties. Tomorrow, we will assess the best way to proceed," said Uhagile.
