Tanzania Education Authority Urges Parents to Purchase New Curriculum Books
March 2, 2025
The Tanzania Education Authority (TET) has issued a call to parents and guardians of children in early childhood, primary, secondary education, universities, and those with special needs, urging them to purchase the newly introduced curriculum books available at their institution and in various locations nationwide.
Zena Amiri, the Curriculum Director at TET, made this appeal in Arusha today during her address to the public visiting the TET exhibition stand. The stand, part of the special campaign "Kitabu Kimoja" (One Book), offers the new curriculum books at affordable prices with the aim of ensuring every student has access to these essential learning materials.
Amiri emphasized that TET plays a crucial role in translating education policies into actionable practices by creating high-quality curricula. She further outlined the organization’s primary functions, which include conducting research, developing educational materials, providing training for education leaders, and engaging various stakeholders such as students, teachers, parents, and specialized groups.
"The new curriculum aims to deliver flexible education that allows students to progress in their chosen fields of study," said Amiri. "This aligns with the theme for this year's International Women's Day celebrations, Women and Girls 2025: Strengthening Rights, Equality, and Empowerment."
In support of the initiative, Hadija Salumu, a publishing expert at TET, explained that the institution also prints Braille books for primary, secondary, and university students with visual impairments. She urged parents and guardians to ensure their children attend school and benefit from the educational resources available to help them fulfill their potential and dreams.
Maria Jeremia, the French Language Curriculum Director at TET, also highlighted the significance of this week, as the institution advocates for the purchase of educational books, including those specifically designed for visually impaired children, enabling them to reach their goals as well.
