Political and diplomatic analysts have lauded Tanzania’s Sixth Phase Government for strengthening international relations, a move credited with fostering economic growth and enhancing the nation’s global standing.
Strengthening Global Alliances
Economic analyst Professor Haji Semboja emphasized that a nation’s diplomatic relations thrive on well-crafted policies, robust legal frameworks, and proactive leadership. He noted that President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s active engagement with world leaders has solidified Tanzania’s international presence.
"President Samia has excelled in institutional frameworks and international partnerships. She ensures that Tanzania upholds its commitments, fostering collaboration with other nations," Prof. Semboja stated in an interview with HabariLEO.
He further highlighted how Tanzania's investment landscape has improved under her leadership. “We’ve witnessed an increase in foreign investments, with global investors recognizing Tanzania as a stable and promising market," he added.
Economic Diplomacy Driving Progress
Diplomatic affairs expert Goodluck Ng’ingo credited President Samia’s international visits with boosting Tanzania’s private sector and trade activities.
"The successful implementation of her economic diplomacy strategy has facilitated crucial international forums, including last year’s agricultural summit and the ongoing energy sector discussions," said Ng’ingo.
He also underscored the role of diplomatic ties in enhancing border security. “Criminal activities at border regions have significantly declined. For example, the once-prevalent terrorist threats in Mtwara have diminished due to Tanzania’s strengthened cooperation with Mozambique,” he observed.
Ng’ingo further commended the government’s focus on infrastructure development, citing advancements in bridges, railway systems, and hydropower projects as vital drivers of economic transformation. He encouraged the private sector to leverage these opportunities, ensuring that economic growth remains inclusive and locally beneficial.
Rebuilding Diplomatic Networks
Joseph Selasini, Deputy Chairman of the NCCR-Mageuzi party, praised President Samia for rejuvenating Tanzania’s diplomatic ties, fostering deeper international cooperation, and unlocking economic opportunities.
“Strengthened relations with foreign nations and international organizations bring immense economic benefits, including increased investor confidence and expanded trade networks,” he said.
Addressing critics who claim that the President’s frequent travels are unnecessary, Selasini emphasized their importance in promoting Tanzania on the global stage.
Diplomatic Milestones and Economic Growth
International relations analyst Aloyce Mchunga acknowledged Tanzania’s remarkable progress in diplomacy and economic growth over the past four years.
Echoing similar sentiments, political and diplomatic affairs expert Abdulkarim Atiki credited President Samia with repositioning Tanzania on the global diplomatic map.
"In just four years, she has secured major international partnerships, attracting substantial foreign investments, which are fueling economic expansion," Atiki noted.
Political analyst Abdallah Kanju highlighted President Samia’s success in fostering regional economic cooperation.
“A clear example is the DP World investment in the Port of Dar es Salaam, which has yielded significant economic benefits,” Kanju stated.
He further applauded Tanzania’s proactive role within the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), particularly in conflict resolution and regional stability efforts.
As Tanzania continues to strengthen its global and regional partnerships, analysts agree that the country is on a steady trajectory toward long-term economic and diplomatic success.
