Tanzania Urges Creation of Special Fund for Biodiversity Conservation

Tanzania has underscored the urgency of establishing a dedicated financial mechanism to ensure the protection of global biodiversity, emphasizing that now is the right time to create such a fund in line with Article 21 of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Cyprian Luhemeja, the Secretary-General of the Vice President's Office, made these remarks during his contribution to discussions at the ongoing 16th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, taking place in Rome, Italy.
In addition, Tanzania highlighted the importance of reviewing existing financial structures to strengthen them in order to better support global biodiversity conservation efforts.
