RSF Signs Agreement to Form New Government in Sudan
The RSF and political allies sign an agreement to form a new government in Sudan, aiming for a secular, democratic nation.

In a significant development for Sudan, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their affiliated political and armed groups have formally signed an agreement to establish a government in the regions they control.
The group, now calling itself the Sudan Founding Alliance, asserts that it seeks to build a new secular, democratic, and decentralized nation founded on the principles of "freedom, equality, and justice."
However, this move raises serious concerns about the potential consequences for a nation already devastated by ongoing conflict. Since April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in a civil war between the Sudanese military and the RSF, further deepening the country’s instability.
The signing of the agreement took place in secret in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, despite strong opposition from Sudan's military leader, Abdel Fattah Al Burhan.
Among those present at the signing were Abdel Rahim Dagalo, the RSF deputy leader and brother of RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who was absent. Also present was Abdelaziz al-Hilu, the leader of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), a group that controls parts of South Kordofan and the Blue Nile states.
