Mohamed Salah Breaks Another Premier League Record
Liverpool, England: Mohamed Salah, the renowned Egyptian international and Liverpool star, has etched his name into Premier League history once again. In a thrilling 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Wednesday, Salah achieved a milestone that places him in the company of football legends, becoming the first player since Lionel Messi in the 2014/15 season to score and assist in 10 or more league games in a single campaign.
This feat echoes the remarkable partnership Messi shared with teammates Luis Suárez and Neymar at Barcelona, a trio that dominated world football. According to OptaJoe, Messi recorded 11 such matches during that stellar season, a record Salah is poised to match with another similar performance in the upcoming games.
Currently, Salah has accumulated 24 goals and 15 assists in just 26 Premier League appearances this season. Additionally, he has contributed 3 goals and 4 assists in 7 Champions League matches, further solidifying his status as one of the most influential forwards in Europe.
But Salah’s record-breaking performance didn’t stop there. His goal in the Villa game, marking his 29th of the season across all competitions, was also his 15th away goal, making him the player to score the most away goals in a single Premier League season. Luis Suárez previously held the record with 14 away goals during the 2013/14 season.
Salah’s achievements continue to cement his legacy at Liverpool, showcasing his immense contribution to the club’s success and his place among the elite in world football.
