Farmer Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wife and Two-Year-Old Child
Kisarawe, February 19, 2025 – A resident of Kiisangile, Marui Ward in Kisarawe District, Coast Region, has been arrested by police on charges of allegedly murdering his wife and their two-year-old child.
Tanganyika Masele, a farmer from the area, was apprehended after a tragic incident occurred on Monday, February 17, 2025, at approximately 7:00 PM in the Buduge neighborhood of Marui Ward. According to a statement by Salim Morcase, the Regional Police Commander of Coast, the victims were identified as Masele's wife, Gumba Kulwa, and their two-year-old child, both of whom were found dead behind their house near a water reservoir.
The victims had reportedly been killed with a sharp object to the neck, with sources suggesting that the motive behind the attack was marital jealousy. Preliminary investigations indicated that Masele had previously threatened his wife, warning her of harm if she did not comply with his demands.
Following the report of the incident, local authorities launched an investigation, working in collaboration with other agencies, which led to Masele’s arrest. Police are continuing their questioning of the suspect, and once investigations are completed, he will be brought before the courts.
The bodies of the victims are currently being held at Kisarawe Hospital for further examination.
