Vice-President Calls for Stronger Efforts on Environmental Conservation

During the closing of the 109th Annual Meeting of Public Education Program Producers in Mbeya, Vice-President Dr. Philip Mpango emphasized the urgent need for increased focus on environmental conservation and clean cooking energy within public education programs. He called on organisers to raise awareness and encourage community participation in these vital areas.

Dr. Mpango stated that the promotion of environmental conservation and the adoption of clean cooking technologies are not just optional, but essential efforts that require a collective approach. He underscored the significant role the media plays in shaping public perception and urged media professionals to create and broadcast content that prioritises cleanliness, environmental stewardship, and sustainable energy practices.

"It is crucial that these issues remain a central theme in our programming," Dr. Mpango remarked. "We should not wait for crises like disease outbreaks, forest fires, or floods to prompt action. Environmental conservation and the use of clean energy should always be top of mind."

In addition to environmental concerns, Dr. Mpango encouraged public education producers to stay abreast of global advancements in science and technology. He highlighted the importance of informing Tanzanians about emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and the responsible use of the internet, which can inspire progress and innovation.

The Vice-President also urged internet users to maintain ethical standards, adhere to Tanzanian laws, and respect the country’s traditions and values in their online interactions. He pointed out that the irresponsible sharing of harmful or degrading content on social media often violates these principles and undermines social harmony.

Finally, Dr. Mpango reminded the attendees to use the Kiswahili language correctly and avoid spreading misinformation that can lead to misunderstandings or conflicts among Tanzanians. "Let us focus on promoting development," he concluded.
