The Cotton Development Trust Fund (CDTF), established in Tanzania on March 4th, 2008, under the Trustees Incorporation Act (CAP.318 R.E. 2002), seeks a highly qualified Cotton Textile Coordinator. The position aims to enhance the textile sector's efficiency in handling cotton materials and sustainable practices for fiber crops.

The CDTF is the successor to the Cotton Development Fund (CDF), created by the Cotton Industry Act No. 2 of 2001. It was formed to represent the collective interests of cotton stakeholders, as detailed in the Memorandum of Understanding signed on April 21, 2006.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Education:
A Bachelor's degree in textile engineering, textile science, or a related discipline from a recognized institution. Relevant work experience in the field is essential. Additional certifications related to cotton quality and sustainability will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in sustainable cotton and fiber crop programs.
  • Collaborate with departments like spinning, weaving, and dyeing for smooth production flow.
  • Conduct quality checks on incoming cotton bales to ensure they meet industry standards.
  • Promote sustainable cotton sourcing practices such as organic or Better Cotton Initiative-certified cotton.
  • Prepare reports on cotton costs, quality trends, and production performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of cotton purchases, inventory levels, and quality.
  • Identify and negotiate with cotton suppliers to secure competitive, high-quality cotton.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in product and apparel production.
  • Basic understanding of garment construction.
  • Technical knowledge of crop production and fabric types.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
