Fides Tanzania Limited Announces Vacancy for Assistant Accountant Role

Arusha, Tanzania – April 3, 2025 — Fides Tanzania Limited, a subsidiary of the globally renowned horticultural firm Dümmen Orange, is seeking to hire a qualified Assistant Accountant to join its finance team in Arusha. The position is a full-time role, offering an opportunity to work within one of the leading companies in the breeding and development of cut flowers, potted plants, bedding plants, and perennials.

Position: Assistant Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will support various financial operations, including but not limited to:

• Preparing payment submissions for the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and Workers Compensation Fund (WCF).

• Entering and submitting data through the VAT e-filing system.

• Managing petty cash transactions.

• Handling statutory payments such as Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and Skills Development Levy (SDL) to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).

• Reconciling local creditor accounts with supplier statements and the General Ledger.

• Managing the company’s cash flow, processing payments, and verifying related documentation.

• Conducting monthly cost analyses.

• Printing and filing sales invoices from the Electronic Fiscal Device (EFD)/TRA machine.

• Performing monthly bank reconciliations and stock reconciliations.

• Preparing and reconciling payroll on a monthly basis.

• Using the Tanzania Customs Integrated System (TANCIS) for import and export processes in compliance with regulatory standards.

• Compiling and submitting EPZA reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.

• Reconciling sales and VAT accounts each month.

• Maintaining an organized filing system for invoices and other financial documentation.

• Managing staff loans and salary advance processes.

• Assisting in the preparation of both statutory and TRA audits.

• Supporting the Finance Manager and Managing Director in developing the annual company budget, including projections and reviews.

• Reviewing and verifying invoiced items against ordered and received goods; resolving discrepancies with vendors or internal teams.

• Posting financial transactions into automated accounting systems as directed.

• Carrying out additional duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or Managing Director.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Strong analytical abilities and solid understanding of financial systems.

• Proven experience with invoicing and general accounting processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in financial documentation, reporting, and accounting software.

• Ability to function effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

• Prior experience in the horticultural industry will be considered an advantage.
