Parliamentary Committee Orders Special Audit of Farkwa Health Centre

DODOMA, April 3, 2025 – The Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee for Local Government Authorities (LAAC) has directed the Office of the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) to conduct a special audit of the construction project at the Farkwa Health Centre in Chemba District, Dodoma Region. The directive follows concerns that the facility’s infrastructure does not reflect the financial investment made by the government.

LAAC Chairperson, Halima Mdee, issued the order after the committee conducted an inspection tour of various development projects, including Sankwaleto Primary School and the Farkwa Health Centre.

“The Committee instructs the CAG to carry out a special audit of this health centre in Farkwa, as it has become evident that the project does not demonstrate value for money,” Mdee said.

In addition, the committee has tasked the Office of the Dodoma Regional Commissioner with closely monitoring ongoing projects in Chemba District to ensure timely completion and alignment with allocated funds.

Deputy Minister in the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), Dr. Festo Dugange, emphasized the critical role of effective project supervision to ensure government funds deliver tangible benefits to the public.

“The government allocates funds to improve public services, and there are qualified professionals responsible for overseeing these projects. Our policy is to bring essential services closer to citizens. Once funds are disbursed, it is our duty to ensure proper supervision so that the value of the investment is evident in our projects,” Dr. Dugange stated.
